New River Animal Hospital

Dr. Connie Hyler-Both, a 1984 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, moved to WV in 1988.

In 1987, she was working for another practice that had a mobile clinic in Hinton, as there was no permanent practice there.

She was approached by someone looking to sell a building that he thought would be a great location for a veterinary practice in Summers County.

She had no idea that it would become New River Animal Hospital, but God did!

After much thought and prayer, it was decided to renovate the old store in Nimitz and start a veterinary hospital.

Starting with a single employee, we’ve grown over time to proved jobs and employment for nine people.

The years have had their ups and downs, including some major health challenges for Doc, but we have developed a loyal clientele and staff.

We’ve expanded to provide surgery, digital radiology, dentistry, preventative medicine, laser therapy, boarding, and grooming,

In 2013, Dr. Sarah Koressel, a 2005 graduate of Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine joined our team in helping offer “our best for pets and their people.”

Thirty years later, we’re still here, proudly serving the community with care and experience.
