The wellness exams performed each spring and fall are important for the health and longevity of your horse. During this thorough examination the doctor will listen to your horse’s heart, lungs and GI tract. Body temperature will be taken and a body condition score will be recorded. Dr. Cinotti will also check for any sore areas on the body, and palpate the distal limbs for any heat or swelling. A sample of manure will be taken to run a fecal egg count. Patients who allow it will also have an un-sedated oral exam.

These examinations combined with an accurate history and the owner/trainer’s observations and questions are extremely helpful in detecting problems early so they do not become large problems later.
