Portage Lakes Veterinary Hospital

Portage Lakes Veterinary Hospital is a locally owned and operated veterinary hospital that was established in 1994 in Akron, OH. Since then, we have been serving the village of New Franklin and the surrounding areas.
Our hospital is run by a single doctor, Dr. Maria Riedel DVM, who is known for providing compassionate and personalized pet care services in the Portage Lakes area of Akron, OH. She has been practicing for over 30 years now.

Originally from Alliance, OH, Dr. Maria Riedel wanted to become a veterinarian doctor since childhood. After starting college at the Ohio State University, Dr. Riedel traveled to Germany to study veterinary medicine at the University of Berlin.

After graduation in 1980, she practiced in the Summit County area for many years before finally opening her own clinic in 1994. Dr. Riedel enjoys quilting, jewelry making, art and reading. Her beagle mix Andy and her calico cat Kitsy are her companions for life!
