Bullitt County Veterinary Center was opened by Dr. Raymond Schaaf in 1978. Dr. Schaaf, a native of Louisville, KY completed his undergraduate degree at Eastern Kentucky University and later attended the University of Illinois, where he obtained his degree in veterinary medicine. Dr. Schaaf continues his education by attending professional meetings each year and taking classes via the internet. When the hospital opened, it was a mixed practice with several doctors who treated large as well as small animals. Today, the practice is restricted to small animals only, but does include birds, exotics, wildlife, and other small animals such as goats and sheep.

The practice is family owned and operated! Dr. Schaaf’s wife, Jessica, serves as office manager, a technician and the groomer. The Schaaf family has their own menagerie of “needy” animals that were lucky enough to find their way into their home. They currently have 7 house dogs and 5 house cats, 6 horses, 4 cows and an array of poultry.

At Bullitt County Veterinary Center, you can rest assured that we will treat your pet as one of our own, as we know how important animals are in our lives!
