We at WSVC aim to give the best care, love and support to you and your furry loved ones. We know how important your pets are to you (we have them too!), and how they are a member of your family. When it comes to veterinary care and customer service we hold our standards very high. Our goal is to make sure you and your four-legged friends are completely satisfied with the care and attention you receive at our office, and we are always working to exceed your expectations. We strive to provide the “Best Care, for your Best Friend.”

Dr. Janssen earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1994 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He worked at an emergency and referral veterinary clinic in Des Moines for 10 years, and also at two general practice veterinary clinics for 8 years in the Des Moines area. He became the owner of West Side Veterinary Clinic in 2012. He greatly enjoys taking care of pets, and getting to know the pet’s owners. He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but especially likes dentistry and surgery. He is patient and will take the time to answer questions, and thoroughly go over options to help your pet be as healthy as possible. Dr. Janssen is married with three children, and he has one dog (a Shih Tzu), and three cats. In his free time, he likes doing things with his family, church activities, doing handyman (do-it-yourself) projects, computers, cars, sports, and fishing.
