Animal Care Hospital of Phoenix

Animal Care Hospital of Phoenix was founded in 1964 by Dr. John Matchette.

The original hospital was located on Thomas Road, just a few blocks east of our present facility.

We moved the practice to our current location just west of 32nd street in 1981.

Dr. Stephen Bishop joined the practice in 1973, Dr. Mark Halver in 1981, and Dr. Tara Temple in 2006. Dr. Bishop ran our outpatient practice (Animal Care Clinic) from 1977 until 1988.

That practice was located in the Town and Country shopping center at 20th Street and Camelback.

We are proud to say we’ve been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for over 25 years.

This means we are regularly, voluntarily evaluated on over 900 standards of care set forth by the AAHA and must meet stringent standards for comprehensive professional, medical, and surgical care.

Only 14% of small animal hospitals in the country are members of the AAHA, so we’re proud of this distinction that sets us apart.
